Thank You for 15 Years!

As some of you may know, I’ve made the decision to end the journey that I’ve been on since age 22. For those of you who don’t, I’m closing down my business, eDrop-Off. To say the decision is bittersweet is an understatement, but it truly feels like the right thing to do. With the recent flood being the sign I needed to step away, it’s a decision that didn’t come lightly, but intentionally. And it only felt right to share words about the company’s exit here with you all. So here I am, attempting to sum up 15 years of work into one blog post. It’s not going to be easy or potentially even adequate, but I’m going to do my best.

I’d like to start this love letter of sorts by thanking the community that supported me and the business. From my dear clients who turned into friends, to my evolving team who has seen me at my best (and worst), to my family, my Spiro, to the vibrant city of Chicago, and to the platform that is eBay, I love you. It’s safe to say that being a pioneer of an industry is interesting, and I truly thank you for supporting me on this wild ride. I’ll always remember the client who gave me my first sale, watching and mentoring team members as they came in fresh out of college, the excitement over success, and the tears over failures. You know who you are, and I can’t express enough gratitude for your support.

eDrop-Off closes their doors after 15 years.

I also want to touch on some of the most memorable times while at eDrop-Off, as I think it’s crucial to celebrate successes in life. As an early 20-something with an entrepreneurial spirit, it was a dream to do my own thing - so turning that idea into a successful business for 15 years is still a pinch-me thing! We sold over a million items at eDrop-Off, and that’s freaking cool. We sold all over the world and got to share experiences with people from all walks of life. We hosted and sold online when people were terrified of giving a credit card number, let alone paying with the touch of a finger!

I was featured on Crain’s ‘40 under 40 list’ in 2011 and the company has been featured on and in ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Marie Claire, Forbes, and InStyle, to name a few. And maybe more interesting than anything else, my early journey was documented in the early days of reality TV on VH1’s ‘House of Consignment'. Boy, do I have some stories from that experience! Each of these milestones taught me so much about myself and my team, and they are moments I’ll never forget.

As I look back on the memories, I’m filled with immense gratitude, visions of some incredible pieces of merchandise, stories to fill a novel, and definitely some exhaustion. Running a local business is no joke, and anyone doing it knows what I’m talking about. I have such a respect for the entrepreneurial and local business community, and if there’s anything I ask this awesome community as I close eDrop-Off's doors, it’s this…

Buy local. Support the mom and pop shops working their assess off down the street. Invest in your city by doing your part and keeping these places open. I get that we all need our Amazon fixes here and there, but without the support of the people of Chicago, we never would have lasted 15 years. It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to end a company by choice rather than force, and I’m here to ask you do the same for other local businesses. I know I will. They’re truly America’s backbone, and I hope we can all work to keep that turning. It’s meant the world to me, and I know other local businesses feel the same.

As for what’s next, more on that to come soon. But you can bet that I’m popping a bottle of champagne and embracing a bit of the unknown. THANK YOU FOR THE LAST 15!

xx Corri

A Brief History of the Lady Dior Handbag

The Lady Dior bag is perhaps one of the most iconic handbags of all time, but did you know it was originally called the Chouchou? Given to Lady Di in 1995 by France’s first lady, Bernadette Chirac, at the Cezanne Art Exhibit at the Grand Palais in Paris, it quickly became a signature bag for the former Princess of Wales. She ordered it in every style available and was photographed carrying it all over the world. It instantly became the brand's most sought-after item! The bag was renamed in her honor and to this day, it is one of Christian Dior’s bestselling handbags.

Made from one hundred and forty pieces, it takes seven craftsman up to eight hours to construct each bag. Every Lady Dior is handmade, available in a range of sizes from mini up to large shopper, and contains the signature gold plated D.I.O.R. charm letters. The Lady Dior is almost as famous as the woman who inspired its iconic name. Today, the bag is represented by Marion Cotillard, who has been the face of Lady Dior since 2008. Will this historic beauty join your closet?

Best Sellers: From Winter to Spring

Our March Best Sellers List showed one thing: winter is still lingering even though we’re ready to step into spring. Notable wintry weather favorites included fur lined Gucci pumps and a black puffer coat, along with silk scarves and brightly colored dresses that are begging to be worn in warmer temps. Baubles were also big in March with diamonds sparkling brightly at the forefront. Our favorite item of the bunch? The white Tom Ford Tara Crossbody Bag. It can be a winter white or the perfect bag to break out as flowers begin to bloom. How would you rock it?
