Larissa May, also known as Larz, is 21 year old style blogger, creative consultant, and founder of #HALFTHESTORY. The #HALFTHESTORY project is an Instagram campaign that aims to challenge the status quo of millennials, by encouraging them to change the lens in which they view other “social stories,” and to serve as a platform to gain support around entrepreneurship, innovation, and discovery. She has been featured in Teen Vogue and the Chicago Sun Times Splash, as an “Instagram Star” and has been a correspondent for Lookbook.nu and AOL Lifestyles for New York Fashion Week. LivinLikeLarz is a Chi-Town Native, but has lived, worked, and traveled in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and Paris during her past four years while simultaneously studying at Vanderbilt University.
Larissa describes her personal style as urban chic meets sporty girl, but overall she feels that she does not have an “in the box style.” One item that she went crazy over was our Jean Paul Gaultier jersey due to its chic, effortless athleisure look; she’s a huge advocate of anything floral and loves leather. After living in Paris, she is also all about black and street chic, too.

The designer Larz is most inspired by is Rebecca Minkoff. She strongly feels that Minkoff is innovating the fashion world through art and technology. She says that the brand’s strategy and innovative storefronts are “changing the game” and strongly impacting the consumer experience in regards to retail fashion. Larissa also left us with a hint that Rebecca Minkoff is opening a store on Oak Street in Chicago soon, too!
Larz sees the importance and value in the way that technology impacts fashion and is a “total APP geek.” She is aware of how consumers have dramatically shifted to reading on mobile platforms and suggested a few applications that everyone needs to check out! She recommends Feels, which is a UK-based app where you upload your own street style looks and participate in campaigns for major brands. Secondly, she told us to check out Spring, which is a swipe and shop app. She warned us to watch out, though, because it’s the easiest, fastest, and most convenient way to shop the latest trends. Finally, she said to download Steller because it is like an extension of Instagram where you can upload a series of photos and create micro-editorials.
With the Spring/Summer 2016 season coming up, we had to ask Larz what pieces she is looking forward to wearing and what people should be putting into their closet! Her top four necessities are: a fringe skirt, an off-the-shoulder white blouse, a pair of low-rise trousers, and anything tye-dyed. Larissa has predicted a tye-dye comeback in the best way and highly recommends adding some of these pieces to your spring and summer wardrobe.
