Julia Daoud of SIMPLYJULES.CO is a fashion blogger making huge moves in Chicago. Her personal style revolves around impersonal austerity and maintains a featureless and almost anonymous look, but in the best way. Her favorite designers include Calvin Klein, Eileen Fisher, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, and The Row because she appreciates how they focus on garment construction and textiles. No matter how complex their pieces are, they still maintain a deceivingly simple and clean look to them. Her favorite pieces at EDROP-OFF included a stunning black cashmere and velvet coat by YVES SAINT LAURENT, another wool coat by TAHARI, and black handbags by CHANEL and LOUIS VUITTON for this reason. If you were to ask her what pieces are vital to every girl’s closet, she would tell you a perfect, little black dress that could be dressed up or down for any occasion, along with a pair of closed toe heels or platforms, as well as a chic, versatile jacket for a fun night out or a casual afternoon brunch!
Julia recently returned to Chicago after attending NEW YORK FASHION WEEK and we couldn’t help but ask about it! She told us that it was a phenomenal experience to preview collections in person as opposed to seeing images on websites or on social media. While she absolutely loves how technology has positively impacted fashion by making it so much easier to shop and explore new trends, nothing can compete with seeing garments in person. Being at fashion week truly motivated and empowered her due to the energy of the industry, from the producers of the shows to the designers themselves, and she utterly adores the city, too.
